Organic Gardening.

from: gardeners

Organic gardening is a radical development in the todays world of planting & cultivation. Organic gardening methods try to lower the usage of pesticides and provide nutrition to the soil through natural ways in place of synthetic fertilizers. The key feature in organic gardening is to know and encourage the ways of nature. By observing the biological conditions, it is evident that nature keeps a very delicate balance. Organic gardening tries to hold this balance resulting in naturally healthy plants.

The basic chemistry in the growing the plant is as follows: The roots absorb the water and other minerals and carries them to the stems and leaves for photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses water from the leaves and energy from the sun and changes the carbon dioxide to carbohydrates. These carbohydrates, stored in the branches and stems, give sustenance for the growth of the plant. They are used to make new stems and leaves and as a backup in times of crisis. Example, a broken stem or insect attack.

There is a multitude of organic substances resident in the dirt. They are many different fungi, earthworms and bacteria involved in enriching the soil naturally. They create humus, a soil enriching substance, by breaking down dead leaves and stems. The beneficial organisms found in humus assist the plants to absorb more minerals. Some substances are exuded from the roots of the plants that bring beneficial bacterium and other organisms that are useful in warding off harmful fungi. Another way to let the soil abundant is to add compost to it every year. You could make compost in your own backyard with waste materials from your garden and kitchen.

The secret of organic gardening is that dangerous insects do not attack healthy plants. They only prey on plants that are very weak. Therefore, if the plants are grown strong internally, there is no fear of a pathogenic attack. No doubt, the common synthetic fertilizers and pesticides kills the harmful insects. At the same time, they also destroy the beneficial organisms existing in the dirt. This throws out the natural balance of the plants. This imbalance makes the plants more prone to more attacks.

Over enthusiastic gardeners meddle in the natural pattern of plant growth and will harm the plants. The leaves and stems are mercilessly chopped down in the name of pruning. This reduces the carbohydrate storages therefore making the plant vulnerable. The plants also get weak and susceptible to an insect attack through hybridization. Enthusiastic weeding is understood to be a sign of a good gardener. However, nettles give provisions to ladybirds and thistles support a lot of beneficial insects.

Organic gardening is a great for the plants and other wildlife too. Grow a range of plants with the assistance of organic gardening and see the garden bloom.
